Our Ongoing Projects

FUTURE PROJECT - Stabilization of the Dukla Synagogue Ruins

Dukla's brick synagogue, built in 1788, was left in ruins at the end of World War II. Until recent years, the synagogue ruins were publicly accessible. However, because of the deteriorating and increasingly unstable condition of the ruin's brick walls, for a safety reasons, a fence has now been erected around the synagogue site to keep visitors away. The entrance to the interior of the synagogue has also been closed off. The APJDP has prioritized fundraising to support a future proposal to help the Dukla municipality with stabilization of the synagogue walls - so visitors can once again enter the site and walls.

Cemetery Maintenance

Several times annually, Jacek Kozszcan of Sztetl Dukla, and others, presently perform maintenance work on the Dukla Jewish cemetery and synagogue grounds. In order to assist those efforts, the ApJDP recently provided Jacek with a grant of funds to him to purchase a new powered grass trimmer. (Given elevation variations and heavily rooted nature of the cemetery sites, Jacek determined that a powered trimmer, rather than a larger powered mower, would be most useful in maintaining the Dukla Jewish sites.). Here are pictures of Jacek picking out, and using the new powered grass trimmer acquired through APJPD funds.
